Nanoparticle and nanomineral production by fungi

چکیده

Fungi show a variety of abilities in affecting metal speciation, toxicity, and mobility mineral formation, dissolution or deterioration through several interacting biomechanical biochemical mechanisms. A consequence many metal-mineral interactions is the production nanoparticles which may be elemental, compound forms. Organisms benefit from such nanomaterial formation removal protection environmental stress, their redox properties since certain mycogenic can act as nanozymes mimicking enzymes peroxidase. With development nanotechnology, there growing interest application biological systems for provide economic benefits lower damaging effect than conventional chemical synthesis. offer some advantages most are easily cultured under controlled conditions well known secretion metabolites related to nanoparticle nanomineral formation. Nanoparticles formed intracellularly extracellularly, latter being favourable easy harvest, while cell wall also provides abundant nucleation sites In this article, we focus on synthesis nanominerals by fungi, emphasizing mechanisms involved, highlight possible applications fungal nanomaterials biotechnology.

Screening of Lovastatin Production by Filamentous Fungi

In the present study, 110 fungal strains of Persian Type Culture Collection (PTCC) including some selected strains isolated in various screening projects were tested for their potentiality to produce lovastatin, a competitive inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase (HMG-CoA reduc-tase), the rate-limiting enzyme of cholesterol biosynthesis. The fungal strains were cultivated in a t...

Biosurfactant production by Myrciaguianensisendophytic fungi

Surfactants are amphipathic molecules constituted by hydrophobic and hydrophilic regions that usually get distributed on interfaces between fluid phases of different polarities (water/oil and oil/water) [1]. Several compounds with tensoactive properties are synthetized by living organisms (animals, plants and microorganisms), being considered natural surfactants or biosurfactants, which reduce ...

Arachidonic Acid production by fungi.

After preliminary screening, Mortierella alpina and Mortierella elongata were compared with respect to arachidonic acid content. M. alpina ATCC 16266 produced 2.1 g of arachidonic acid per liter in media containing 10% glucose while the highest percentage of arachidonic acid in lipid (43.3%) was observed at a glucose concentration of 2%. Arachidonic acid content in lipids increased to 66% durin...

Antibiotic production by dermatophyte fungi.

Thirty-two clinical isolates of anthropophlic dermatophytes were examined for their capacity to produce antibiotics in liquid culture and on human stratum corneum in vitro. Antibiotics were detected and classified using agar diffusion bioassays and chromatographic analysis. Twenty-four isolates produced antibiotic substances in liquid culture filtrates; some strains produced more than one antib...
